About The Event
This Mandala Vinyasa Masterclass, focusing on the element of Metal, follows the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Five Element philosophy to enable healing through the energetic meridian system.
By stimulating the meridians of the lung and large intestines, we will harnise the physical, mental, energetic and emotional qualities of the Metal element within the internal landscape of our bodies.
Each element in TCM is also closely affiliated with two organs and their energetic meridians. Metal is the element of the lungs and the large intestine. The large intestine functions to “let go” of toxins and waste products our bodies no longer need to function. The lungs enable us to take in the crisp pure air of the autumn months, which helps to nourish and enrich our blood. The lungs and the large intestine work as a team to keep the body healthy. One gets rid of waste, while the other brings in nourishment.
When the metal element is out of balance, we may experience allergies, asthma, wheezing, colds, coughing, grief, sadness, skin rashes, eczema, diarrhea or constipation. All of these can be due to either excesses or deficiencies within the lung and large intestine meridians. The emotional manifestation of imbalance may prevent us from letting go and moving forward, feeling slightly stuck in a rut or emotionally constipated.
The practice of Mandala is a journey through the self, to the self. Our masterclass will start with a preparatory practice of Yin. Through gentle compression along the Meridians of the lungs and large intestines we will remove stagment energy to encourage the flow of Qi into the relevant areas of the body, working into the deep layers of the fascia in perparation for the Mandala.
The Intention of the Mandala Vinyasa practice is to honor the creative energy in all its manifestations. The practice integrates the spiral patterns that nature uses to shape and create the material and energetical substances into our bodies. It opens us into deeper introspection as we move and expand around the mat, while exploring circular movements with our bodies. It leads us into places that perhaps our awareness would not have access to by following a linear pattern. The power of the Mandala stimulates the production of Qi, raising its vibrational flow and encouraging the deeper latent layers of trauma held within the deeper aspects of the self to surface.
The practice will conclude with Yin yoga targetting the Water element; the meridians of the Kidneys and Urinary Bladder to pacifiy and ground the Metal element. This final part of our Mandala journey embodies the practice of compassion and forgiveness, encouraging spiritual growth through the developement of new patterns and behaviours.
This workshop is suitable for anyone with previous Vinyasa Flow experience.
