Meet our new teacher for the New Year!

Hi, my name is Jo and I am a Yoga Teacher.

My earliest experience of Yoga was in 1984 at the age of seventeen, after passing my driving test new freedom took me to new places - and a new life began. In 2004, I discovered Ashtanga Yoga and my Yoga practice entered a new phase and inspired me to seriously consider teaching, the one thing that had helped me through life so far, Yoga.

I found the thought of teaching extremely daunting but I felt passionate about sharing the benefits of Yoga with other people. I chose to study with the British Wheel of Yoga, its foundation and 3 year Teacher Training Programme. This course helped me to channel my own yoga experience to others. Teaching continues to be a process of deep self development for me.

In 2007 I began teaching at a YMCA. I realised that my Teacher Training Course was just the beginning of a Journey. Since then I have completed two Ashtanga Teacher Training courses well as may intensives with others.

Since 2011 I have taught Pregnancy Yoga, Men only Yoga, and Teenagers in School, and have ongoing studies and qualifications in Anatomy and Pranayama. Being able to give the gift of yoga to so many groups of people has been an incredibly rewarding experience.

In 2015 I qualified as a Thai Yoga Massage Therapist, recognising that all adjustments in Yoga were derived from this ancient bodywork treatment.

My general approach to teaching is Vinyasa. I chose to flow because I believe it is better for the nervous system and better for the joints not to hold a posture too long. As a teacher I aim to embrace the diversity of peoples needs.

The most important part of yoga is how its feels for the individual and not how deep you can get into a posture that matters. I look forward to meeting and sharing Yoga to all at Tribe Hot Yoga in the New Year. x
